Description
Self-agency is essential for all learners to meet postsecondary education goals. For many learners with disabilities, this includes independent use of accessible educational materials (AEM). In this session, we’ll work backward from the first year of college in the life of students who need AEM. What do they need to be prepared for in relation to the use of AEM? What should students expect for accommodations? With this backdrop, strategies for scaffolding students’ independent use of AEM as they progress through K-12 completion will be shared. Participants will leave with resources and templates for including AEM in transition planning and developing the Summary of Performance (SOP).
