Guiding Questions

The Navigator consists of a series of guiding questions to assist teams with decision-making about need, selection, acquisition, and use of accessible educational materials.

As a team progresses through the Navigator, they are moved from one decision point to the next when the SAVE AND CONTINUE button is selected.

The menu bar at the top of each page also provides a way to move between decision points. Some decision points have more than one screen. When there is more than one screen, a sub-menu for the screens in that decision point will appear just below the main menu bar.

Features of AEM Navigator

Help Me Decide

Help Me Decide displays valuable information in a question and answer format to help a team make informed decisions and complete the tasks for each of the decision-making checkpoints.

When a question or its associated arrow is selected, the answer to the question is revealed. The same action closes the question.

If a team needs more detailed information to make a decision, they should refer to the extended frequently asked questions (FAQ) with resources in Tell Me More.

Tell Me More

Tell Me More is a robust document that includes a detailed set of frequently asked questions (FAQ), background information, and resources to assist teams with exploring issues more deeply.

Selecting the Tell Me More tab on any of the Need, Selection, Acquisition, and Use screens opens the Tell Me More document to information related to that screen. Some Tell Me More pages are quite long so anchors at the top are provided to move quickly to the section of interest.

Once the Tell Me More document is opened, the table of contents on the right side of the screen can be used to move about within the document. The print option at the top right of the Tell Me More document prints the entire document. To print a part of Tell Me More, highlight and copy that part into a word processor document, then print.

The Tell Me More document can be saved to a local computer using the SAVE or SAVE AS option from the web browser menu bar.

Student Summary

Selections and information entered at each step of the decision-making process are saved to the Student Summary. The Student Summary can be viewed, edited, printed or saved to a local computer at any time while the team is working in the Navigator.

If an email address is entered in the Getting Started section of the Navigator, a link will be the emailed to that address and the link can be used to retrieve the Student Summary for viewing, editing and/or printing at a later time.

If no email address is entered, then the Student Summary will not be retrievable after exiting the Navigator.

To-Do List

The To-Do List can be used at any point in the process to enter information such as what action is needed, who will be responsible, and by what date it will be accomplished. The To-Do List can be viewed, edited, printed, or saved to a local computer at any time while the team is working in the Navigator.

If an email address is entered in the Getting Started section of the Navigator, a link will be emailed to that address and the link can be used to retrieve the To-Do List for viewing, editing, and/or printing at a later time.

If no email address is entered, then the To-Do List will not be retrievable after exiting the Navigator.
