Description

Given the strong connections among AEM, the provision of FAPE, and participation in the general education curriculum, it is important for IEP teams to consider each student’s need for accessible educational materials (AEM) and to specify what is needed in the student’s IEP. At the same time, many districts are without specific guidelines on how to consider and include AEM in IEPs. In this session, the definition of AEM in the context of the IEP will be clarified, and participants will be provided tools and resources to apply new concepts in preparation for their next IEP meeting.
